Lottery supplier Pollard Banknote has signed a five-year extension to its deal to continue providing instant ticket games and related services to Canada’s British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
Pollard Banknote has been supplying the lottery with a range of products and services since 1986, from game design and instant ticket production to marketing support and strategic planning. The lottery has also launched many of Pollard Banknote’s patented and exclusive product innovations over the years, including Scratch FX, Spectrum Scratch FX, PlayBook, and other Fusion games.
The contract extension, worth an estimated $30m in revenues over the five-year term, sees Pollard Banknote continue as the primary supplier of instant ticket games for BCLC.
The new deal also gives Pollard Banknote the opportunity to provide a number of value‐added services to the lottery, including professional development seminars and the company’s SureTrack lottery management system.
“Pollard Banknote is very proud of our 28‐year partnership with BCLC,” said Doug Pollard, co‐CEO of Pollard Banknote. “BCLC is a long‐valued customer, and we have worked hard to increase sales and offer the lottery an expanding selection of innovative products and services to meet the consumer behaviour of its jurisdiction.
“We embrace this opportunity to help BCLC continue its impressive growth in its instant ticket category to maximize revenues that support health care, education, and communities in British Columbia.”
BCLC’s vice‐president of Lottery Gaming Kevin Gass added: “We’re excited to build upon our relationship with Pollard Banknote and grow the partnership that has been forged over nearly three decades. The company is known for driving sales and providing leading‐edge product innovations and we look forward to bringing some of those new, innovative products that will engage and entertain our customers to the market.”
In related news, Pollard Banknote agreed this week to purchase a new 22-station Tresu press, what the company claims is the most advanced instant ticket printing press in the lottery industry.
The $20m press is scheduled to begin live production in the second quarter of 2015 and will provide a substantial 35 per cent net increase to Pollard Banknote’s available print capacity.
“This investment in a new press is significant evidence of our belief in the growth potential of the lottery retail space, particularly when supported by an omni-channel marketing strategy,” said Doug Pollard. “We continue to see great opportunities for our partners and this announcement highlights our ongoing commitment to our customers and the sector.”
