Betfred’s Tote business has completed a major overhaul of its mobile offering with the launch of a full sportsbook under the brand.

Previously the Totesport mobile offering only allowed customers to place bets on horse racing and some Totepool markets, with the new product expanding the range to also include sports bets.

Totesport digital operations manager Andy Porter said that after the brand had enjoyed a record-breaking year with its weekly pool betting offering Scoop6, the company wanted to make sure they enhanced the customer experience on mobile.

“For the first time we also have a full sportsbook, so you can now back your favourite team and still have a placepot while on the go,” Porter explained.

The new mobile offering has been developed by Degree 53, a Manchester-based technology start-up founded by Betfred’s former head of mobile development Andrew Daniels. Degree 53 has also worked on the development of a mobile lottery app for the operator, with Betfred founder Fred Done investing £100,000 in the company in October last year.

Totesport head of development Stuart Magowan said the launch was “very much the start” for the business, with more gaming verticals to be launched.

“Horse-racing will always be our main focus and we will look to develop the offering further, but we also plan to introduce a full gaming product which will be the best out there,” he explained.
