The Isle of Man Treasury has promoted Gregory Petts to chairman of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC).

Petts has been with the regulator for the past five years and previously worked as a chartered accountant and auditor in the gambling, finance and life assurance sectors.

In his new position as chairman, Petts will oversee the regulator’s standards within the sector, aiming to ensure accountability and oversight while balancing industry needs with jurisdictional safety requirements.

The GSC noted that Petts’ experience in internal audit, governance, risk and compliance will support the Commission in its regulatory duties.

Petts reiterated the importance of maintaining a high standard at the GSC, stating: “It is essential to strike a balance, maintaining responsible growth of the sector and continuing to uphold a strong regulatory framework.

“Maintaining the Isle of Man’s international reputation as a trusted and respected jurisdiction is of the utmost importance.”

Petts’ appointment comes during a year of transition for the GSC, which appointed a new Commission chief in Mark Rutherford at the beginning of the year and then promoted Nicola Libreri to deputy CEO last month.
