The American Gaming Association (AGA) has appointed Louis M. Jacobs as its next chairman.

Jacobs is the chief executive officer of Delaware North and will take over as chairman of the AGA in January for a two-year term.

He succeeds former Everi chairman and CEO Michael Rumbolz, who has served as AGA chairman since January 2024.

During Rumbolz’s tenure as chairman, the AGA advanced key policy wins at the federal and state levels, strengthened responsible gaming programs, and led the industry’s efforts to combat illegal gambling.

But the change in leadership comes at a difficult time for the AGA, as the American gaming industry faces an onslaught from unlicensed online gaming operators and prediction markets turned sports betting providers.

“It’s an honor to lead the AGA at such a dynamic time,” said Jacobs. “I look forward to building on AGA’s success and working with CEO Bill Miller and the Board to ensure legal gaming remains a strong economic engine for communities across the country.”

AGA President and CEO Bill Miller commented: “Lou’s tremendous experience across the gaming and hospitality ecosystem makes him an exceptional choice to be AGA’s next chairman.

“His perspective as a long-time industry leader and active board member of the AGA will be instrumental as we continue to champion policies that strengthen and sustain our industry.”

The AGA lost two members this week after DraftKings and FanDuel both quit the association citing diverging views on prediction markets.

The AGA maintains that prediction markets on sports events are a breach of state gambling laws but has been unable to shut down the activity, prompting DraftKings and FanDuel to launch their own prediction markets.
