LeoVegas is strengthening its compliance team with the appointment of former Malta gambling regulator Carl Brincat.
Brincat will join MGM Resorts’ iGaming subsidiary in August as director of policy and regulatory affairs, reporting to LeoVegas chief legal and compliance officer Abby Cosgrave.
“I’m very happy to welcome Carl Brincat to LeoVegas Group,” said Cosgrave. “He brings an impressive wealth of experience from his tenure at the Malta Gaming Authority, which will be a great asset as we continue to rapidly expand internationally.”
Brincat served as chief executive of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) from January 2021 to January of this year, having joined the regulator in 2014 as a legal advisor. He also held roles as the regulator’s chief legal counsel and chief legal and enforcement officer.
Brincat said: “I’m very excited to be joining LeoVegas Group. I have witnessed firsthand the Group’s growth from a newly founded challenger company into a leader in igaming, with strong brands and a significant focus on offering gaming in a safe yet entertaining way.
“The LeoVegas ethos aligns with my own, and I can’t wait to lead the team in supporting the plans to expand commercially whilst continuing to enhance the already excellent relationships with regulators and policymakers around the globe.”
Shares in LeoVegas Group parent MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) closed 0.97 per cent higher at $41.84 per share in New York Friday.
