OPAP chief executive Jan Karas is expanding his duties following his appointment as chairman of the board of directors.

Karas has served as CEO of the Athens-listed lottery and gaming operator since January 2021 and assumes the role of chairman today (1 October), alongside his existing duties.

Karas replaces Kamil Ziegler, who has been the chairman of OPAP since 2013 and also previously served as the company’s chief executive.

Ziegler has stepped down as chairman for personal reasons but will continue to serve as an executive director.

The company has also appointed independent non-executive director Cherrie Mae Chiomento-Ferreria as deputy chairwoman.

Karas, Ziegler and Chiomento-Ferreria will serve on the board of OPAP alongside executive director Pavel Mucha (CFO) and non-executive directors Pavel Šaroch, Robert Chvátal, Katarina Kohlmayer, Igor Rusek, Nicole Conrad-Forker, Theodore Panagos, and Georgios Mantakas.

The new board of directors will hold office until June 2026.
