Former Inspired Entertainment chief commercial officer (CCO) Steve Rogers has launched a new sports gaming studio called Playbook Fusion.

Playbook Fusion will look to combine sports betting and video gaming to create a new genre of immersive, sports-themed gambling products for operators globally.

The studio will be led by creative video games and technology leader Santiago Jaramillo, who is joining the company as executive creative director and will work alongside Rogers to realise this vision.

Jaramillo brings a wealth of video game industry knowledge to the newly launched studio, having previously worked as creative director on EA Sports’ FIFA franchise and executive producer of Monopoly GO!

The new studio aims to provide more engaging betting experience to players, especially those with a vested interest in sports-themed video games, fantasy and virtual sports.

Playbook Fusion is aiming to debut its first football game in early 2025, followed by products featuring other sports, including basketball and cricket.

“Launching Playbook Fusion provides an incredible opportunity to bring something totally new to the online gaming industry,” said Rogers.

“The unique experience within the team from the worlds of video gaming and gambling means we are going to create an entirely new content vertical that will take player engagement to the next level.

“Our games will set the standard for others to follow, and as a pioneer of the format, I am confident that we will quickly become one of the most in-demand sports content providers in the industry.”

Jaramillo said of his new endeavour: “I am thrilled to be part of a venture that stands at the confluence of gaming innovation and sports betting.

“We are bringing together top talent from complementary industries to carve out a new niche in sports betting entertainment that will transform passive interactions into engaging gaming experiences, setting a new standard for what players can expect.”
