The Massachusetts State Lottery has generated a profit of more than $1bn for the first time in its 45-year history, as sales topped $5bn for the third consecutive year.
The financial year ended June 30th saw net profit climb 5 per cent to $1.035bn, making the lottery the single largest source of unrestricted local aid for the Commonwealth’s 351 cities and towns.
