Social gaming giant Zynga has strengthened its board of directors with the addition of John Doerr, general partner of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Doerr becomes the second member of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) to join Zynga’s board of directors, alongside William "Bing" Gordon. The venture capital firm began backing Zynga in 2008 and helped the company through its 2011 IPO.

"John has been a supporter of Zynga since our early days, and truly understands our core values and mission," said Mark Pincus, CEO and Founder, Zynga.
