Finnish state-owned gaming operator Veikkaus expects to cut around 140 jobs as part of planned measures to improve cost efficiency.
The newly-combined business will look to unify its operations and eliminate competency overlaps following the merger of slot machine association RAY, gaming operator Veikkaus and betting operator Fintoto earlier this year.
The company said this will impact around 960 of its 2,000 employees and could lead to 140 redundancies, as well as substantial changes to the job descriptions of a further 20 employees.
"Our goal is a competitive gaming company of the future and we are investing heavily in digital business," Veikkaus chief executive Olli Sarekoski explained. "We are improving our cost-efficiency compared to the overall operations of the previous three businesses."
