The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) is continuing its crusade against illegal gambling operators by issuing cease-and-desist orders to 18 more unlicensed operators in the past week.
The latest enforcement action comprises offshore and unlicensed operators who were found to be targeting Michigan residents, offering online sports betting and online casino games without a local licence.
These operations violate the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.
The 18 sites facing regulatory action are: You Wager, Bet Pop Casino, Wager 7, Discount Wager, BetFlip, BetMania, Casino Castle, Casino Extreme, Casobet Casino, EmuCasino, Golden Lion, Gossip Slots, Irish Luck Casino, Juicy Stakes.com, Juicy Stakes.eu, Lotus Asia Casino, Red Lion Casino, and SlotGems Casino.
The operators have been given 14 days to withdraw their services from the Wolverine State, or face escalated legal action from the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
“Illegal gambling operations prey on vulnerable consumers and undermine the integrity of the regulated gaming industry,” said MGCB executive director Henry Williams. “Michigan residents deserve the protections that come with licensed, legal gaming. We will continue to take strong action against those who skirt the law.”
After this last round of enforcement action, the MGCB has issued cease and desist letters to 82 illegal online gambling sites this year.
