Hippos ATG, the joint venture between ATG and Finland’s Suomen Hippos, has named former Betsson executive Jussi Nurmi as chief operating officer.

Nurmi becomes the latest addition to Hippos ATG’s executive team ahead of the company’s launch in the Finnish gaming market in 2027. 

He has over ten years of experience in the iGaming industry and most recently served as commercial strategy director for Betsson’s Tonybet brand.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jussi to Hippos ATG,” said CEO Mikael Bäcke. “He brings a strong combination of operational experience, strategic insight and commercial understanding from leading international gaming companies.

Commenting on his appointment, Nurmi said: “Hippos ATG combines strong heritage with a clear ambition to build a modern and sustainable business for the Finnish market. I’m excited to contribute to creating a competitive and responsible gaming company in Finland.”

Based in Helsinki, Hippos ATG will offer betting on horse racing, sports, and online casino at launch in January 2027.

It is owned by Suomen Hippos (50 per cent) and Sweden’s ATG (50 per cent), with profits distributed 60 per cent (Suomen Hippos) and 40 per cent (ATG).
