Borstedt will play a central role in strengthening and developing the Swedish lottery and gaming operator’s organization, leadership and working methods

Svenska Spel has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Katarina Borstedt as chief people and culture officer.

Borstedt will begin her new role in September and has extensive experience in developing organizations, leadership and working methods in companies that are undergoing change and growth.

She currently serves as vice president of people and culture at Stockholm-based industrial machinery manufacturer Munters, and prior to that worked for Swedish software providers Proxify and Instabox.

Borstedt will join Svenska Spel’s group management and report directly to president and CEO Anna Johnson.

“I am very pleased to welcome Katarina to Svenska Spel,” said Johnson. “She has broad experience in leading HR and organizational issues in companies that are undergoing change and building for growth. This expertise will be important for us as we continue to develop Svenska Spel with a focus on sustainable growth, customer satisfaction and corporate culture.

“As chief people and culture officer, Katarina will have a central role in strengthening and developing our organization, our leadership and our working methods, as well as leading transformation.”

Commenting on her appointment, Borstedt said: “I am delighted to be entrusted with the role of chief people and culture officer at Svenska Spel, which is a company with a strong brand, exciting games and a clear purpose to give back to society.

“I hope to contribute with my experience of developing organizations, leadership and working methods in growth and change journeys. For me, HR is about creating conditions for employees and leaders to develop, with the customer and the business as a clear starting point. I am very much looking forward to doing this together with my new colleagues at Svenska Spel.”

Borstedt will take up her new position in September, at which point interim chief people and culture officer Joakim Karlsson will return to his regular position as head of talent acquisition and tech.
