Nine out ten available licenses awarded in recent licensing window

Arizona is set to welcome nine new retail betting locations after the Department of Gaming awarded limited event wagering operator licenses to local businesses.

The local businesses will offer in-person event wagering in partnership with two operators, American Wagering (Caesars Sportsbook) and Skyfall 7 (Turf Paradise).

The new licenses were made available in the recent licensing window which opened on August 13 and closed on August 27, with nine of the ten available licenses successfully awarded.

The limited event wagering licenses were available to off-track betting (OTB) locations and allow in-person sports betting only. No online betting is authorized at the locations.

The Department of Gaming will now work with the licensees on the next steps for operational launch.

The licenses were issued to Turf Paradise Racetrack, Boston’s Bar & Grille, Connolly’s Sports Grill, Harold’s Cave Creek Corral, Red Zone Sports Grill, The Nest North Sports Grill, and Trophy Bar, as well as two locations of R.T. O’Sullivans.

Arizona’s sports wagers in the first half of 2026 rose by 2 per cent to $4.56 billion, with online betting accounting for $4.54 billion of the total.
