Georgia Lottery President and CEO, Margaret DeFrancisco, has been appointed as the new President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), the umbrella organisation that represents 52 lottery organisations across North America.
DeFrancisco, who will serve a one-year term in addition to her current role at the Georgia Lottery, was selected by her peers during the NASPL 2009 Annual Conference earlier this month.
“Leading NASPL is a tremendous honour and responsibility,” said DeFrancisco. “We are at a crossroads in the industry with lotteries around the country and the world facing the growing challenges to increase profits for beneficiary programs. To ensure future growth and success as an industry, we must collaborate and progress with innovative ideas and forward thinking.”
One of DeFrancisco’s goals as NASPL president will be to implement the recently announced agreement to cross-sell the popular jackpot games, Mega Millions and Powerball, to all U.S lottery jurisdictions (more).
“With each new year, the NASPL staff has the honour of working with a lottery CEO who serves as president of the Association,” said NASPL Executive Director David Gale. “This year, Margaret DeFrancisco will continue the work necessary to move this Association forward.
“Margaret brings not only a great deal of experience to the office, but also a tremendous amount of knowledge necessary for these changing economic times. We look forward to working with her in the coming year.”
Founded in 1971, the NASPL represents 52 lottery organisations from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
