Ascoli’s duties will be assumed by Marco Tasso in a newly created role

Brightstar Lottery’s global lottery chief executive, Renato Ascoli, is stepping down after more than 20 years with the business.

Ascoli will step down at the end of this month, and his position will be eliminated.

His responsibilities will transfer to current chief operating officer Marco Tasso, who will assume the newly created role of executive vice president and chief operating officer of global lottery.

Tasso will report directly to Brightstar chief executive officer Vince Sadusky.

Brightstar said the change of management structure reflects its evolution into a pure play lottery business.

“Renato has made a tremendous impact on our company and the lottery industry,” said Marco Sala, executive chair of Brightstar Lottery. “His broad experience across lottery product development, technology and commercial strategy helped us to continuously deliver innovative solutions and services to our lottery customers. I want to thank and congratulate him for his many career accomplishments.”

Sadusky commented: “As Renato prepares to step down, I want to thank him for his many years of service and steadfast commitment to our business and people. Having Marco as a part of our senior leadership team supports the company’s vision and strategic goals.

“As we strengthen our focus on growth, transformation and operational execution, Marco’s insights and experience will help shape the lottery operating organization and optimize it to deliver results.”

Shares in Brightstar Lottery plc. (NYSE:BRSL) closed 1.87 per cent higher at $11.97 per share in New York Thursday.
