The Responsible Gambling Trust has today published a series of reports into gaming machines in Britain’s licensed betting offices, which shows that it is possible to distinguish between problem and non-problem gambling behaviour.

The research was conducted in response to concerns about the proliferation of gambling machines, also known as fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs), on UK high streets, and their impact on people with gambling problems.

It was designed to build the knowledge base available to identify harmful machine play and to understand what measures might limit harmful play without impacting on those who do not exhibit harmful behaviour.
