Sheldon Adelson’s Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling has published the results of a survey which claims to show that a majority of Pennsylvania residents are opposed to legalised online gambling in the state.

The telephone survey of just 513 registered Pennsylvania voters claims to show that 73 per cent are opposed to legalising online gaming in the state, with 54 per cent saying they were more likely to vote to re-elect their state legislator “if they strongly opposed legalising online gaming in the state”.

However, the real surprise finding is that 27 per cent of respondents said that they favoured legalised online gaming, despite the wording of the survey, which seems designed to elicit a negative response.
