London-listed gaming technology provider Playtech has launched Poland’s first regulated online casino for state-owned National Lottery operator Totalizator Sportowy.

The launch of the Total Casino brand marks Playtech’s entry into the Polish market and continues the company’s strategy of partnering with established operators in regulated and newly regulated jurisdictions.

Playtech is providing the underlying platform for, as well as its games portfolio and support services.

“This is a significant day for Totalizator Sportowy and for Playtech,” said Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer. “A lot of hard work has gone into the last nine months to build an exciting, robust, safe platform for Poland’s players. We owe a big thank you to our new partners at Totalizator Sportowy and look forward to a long, successful relationship.

“Our commitment to innovative, industry leading products and the scale and flexibility of our gaming platform means Playtech is the clear partner of choice for the leading land-based operators in newly regulating online markets.”

Totalizator Sportowy has run Poland’s lottery services for six decades and currently has a network of more than 17,000 points of sale across the country.

The company has also launched online lottery sales in partnership with International Game Technology (IGT).

The Totalizator Sportowy project follows Playtech’s recent partnerships with other World Lottery Association members including Greece’s OPAP, Portugal’s Santa Casa, Italy’s Sisal, as well as Finland’s Veikkhaus, Denmark’s Danske Spil and Norway’s Norsk Tipping.

Shares in Playtech plc (LSE:PTEC) were trading 1.68 per cent lower at 410.10 pence per share in London Thursday morning.
