Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has expanded the range of sporting competitions on which it offers contests, with the UEFA Europa League and Liga Mexicana now added to the platform.

The Europa League contests launched to coincide with its partner Liverpool FC’s first-leg match against Manchester United at Anfield Stadium Thursday. They join contests already available for the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Major League Soccer, giving fans the chance to win special experiences and cash prizes.

The addition of weekly contests covering the Liga Mexicana make DraftKings’ football offering “truly global,” the operator says.

“The new addition to our product offering will further engage football fans in the most popular Latin American league,” the company explained.

“We are increasing our product depth, adding more leagues and contests that appeal to our growing global market,” DraftKings chief international officer Jeffrey Haas said.

“Football, as we all know, is the world’s favourite sport and we are proud to see so many daily fantasy football players using DraftKings as their second screen on match days to increase their engagement with and enjoyment of the sports they love.”

To offer contests on the Europa League and Liga Mexicana, DraftKings has expanded its existing partnership with Opta, a subsidiary of sports data specialist Perform.

“Opta is delighted to extend our relationship with DraftKings, so that their customers can enjoy an even greater breadth of competitions and contests,” Perform vice president of content for North America Angus McNab said.

“The addition of Liga MX is really exciting and it's great that people will explore the performances of players in this league as well.”
