Swedish casino specialist NetEnt has launched Finn and the Swirly Spin, a new mobile-first slot featuring spiral reels and built-in gamification features.

The Irish-themed game features a new character, Finn the leprechaun, and sees players attempt to move a key down a spiral board to a keyhole in the middle. Winning combinations of three or more symbols explode, creating room for the key to be shifted towards the keyhole.

Each key opens a different free spin mode; Lucky Mug, Lava Lair, Starbar and Golden Pot. The progress towards each mode is tracked by a light-up key meter, helping keep players engaged.

Finn and the Swirly Spin also features a range of Irish-themed symbols, such as horseshoes and four leaf clovers, as well as a soundtrack inspired by Irish music.

"This is a really special production from NetEnt," the supplier's chief product officer Henrik Fagerlund said. "The game is a visual masterclass from our designers and its new features, which include the brilliant unique spiral spin function, add a fun and never-before-seen element that will leave players thrilled to have met Finn.

"NetEnt has certainly cranked up the excitement factor and Finn and the Swirly Spin has received the most positive feedback we have ever seen from game testing and we can't wait for players to play themselves – we are sure they will love the game as much as we do as they travel the Emerald Isle," he added.

Shares in NetEnt AB (STO:NET-B) were trading down 2.52 per cent at SEK59.90 per share in Stockholm earlier Thursday.
