A number of suppliers have been getting into the festive spirit this week with Christmas-themed slots released by Pragmatic Play and Habanero, new titles from NextGen Gaming and Yggdrasil Gaming, and a platform integration for 1X2 Network.
Cherry’s game development studio Yggdrasil Gaming has launched a new slot based on the Orient Express, the famous long-distance passenger train service which ceased operating in 2009.
Transporting players on the trip of a lifetime, passengers will start their luxurious journey in Paris, as they look to spin their way to Istanbul, stopping at Venice and Belgrade on the way.
Players will be immersed in the heart of each city on the way, with each stop providing its own background, free spins and unique features, including Walking Wilds, Win Multipliers, Wild Reels and Random Wilds.
Reaching the final destination of Istanbul unlocks all the previous cities and allows players to pick their favourite destination after each Free Spins round.
“With Orient Express, we’re proud of creating a game which keeps delivering fresh excitement even after hundreds of spins,” said Jonas Strandman, head of slots at Yggdrasil Gaming. “The game's engaging mechanics, which reward extended playtime, combined with quality visuals and a soundscape that takes players back to an era of lavish luxury, makes Orient Express a guaranteed hit which is certain to entertain players for hours and hours.”
The supplier also announced this week that its progressive jackpot game Empire Fortune had paid out another big win with one lucky player scooping €1.12m.
The 32-year old Norwegian won the prize while playing on Betsson’s mobile site last weekend. The latest jackpot win follows a €5.2m prize paid out on the same slot in July, which still stands as the current pool record, as well as a €3.5m jackpot on Joker Millions, Empire Fortune’s pool partner, last month.
NYX Gaming Group's independent game development studio NextGen Gaming has launched Samurai Split, a new Japanese-themed slot game.
The 25-line, five reel slot has gone live for operators on the NYX OGS platform, and features a traditional soundtrack with hip-hop beats and artwork with a manga-inspired twist.
"Join a zany Samurai Warrior as he dramatically splits symbols and awards your win up to 32x," explained NextGen. "Try not to blink as warrior spins can occur at anytime and, if you are lucky, you could be honoured with up to 480 free games."
Players can win up to 480 free games if all five scatters appear and are split. Players can also win five, 10 or 15 free games when three, four or five scatters appear respectively.

1X2 Network’s portfolio of virtual sports, table games and slots will be made available to GAN’s operator partners for either Simulated Gaming or real-money play in Italy.
The technical integration has been completed with 1X2 Network’s content expected to launch before the end of the year.

1X2 Network’s chief commercial officer Kevin Reid added: “We are delighted to be partnering with GAN to provide our unique portfolio of games to their clients on both sides of the Atlantic. Our partnership with GAN allows us to continue our growth into additional markets where there is a real desire for fresh, innovative games such as those available from 1X2 Network.”
Isle of Man-based supplier Microgaming has created another lucky winner through its Mega Moolah progressive slot.
A Grand Mondial Casino player has won €938,306 on the game, which will be paid as a lump sum. It follows a €6.7m jackpot win by another Casino Rewards-owned brand, Zodiac Casino, in March of this year.
“Seeing another amazing win on Mega Moolah with us at Grand Mondial Casino is absolutely fantastic,” said a spokesperson for Casino Rewards, which operates the brand. “We're thrilled. Our lucky winner only joined Grand Mondial Casino that very same day, so to win such a massive amount so quickly is just brilliant. Congratulations again from all of us at Casino Rewards.”
Microgaming games publisher David Reynolds added: “Mega Moolah has delivered another fantastic jackpot to a lucky winner this November. Congratulations to the Grand Mondial Casino player on their big win.”
Malta-based casino games developer Pragmatic Play is getting players in the mood for Christmas with its new Santa video slot.
The supplier’s latest release is a 3x5 slot set against the backdrop of a snow-shrouded pine forest.
The game blends a classic Christmas theme with unique features, complementing a jolly soundtrack with symbols like the candy cane, elf and red-nosed reindeer.
Three or more Christmas tree symbols trigger the free spins mode, while players unwrap presents under the tree filled with jackpots and money awards in the colourful bonus game.
“Santa is an excellent addition to our proven portfolio of slot titles, exhibiting our ability in audio-visual design and crafting uniquely engaging gameplay experiences,” said Catalin Bratosin, head of games production at Pragmatic Play. “We prioritise being able to provide players with varied and charming slots, and the game’s innovative features and vibrant reels capture all the spirit of Christmas.”
Habanero has also announced a festive release with the launch of Santa’s Village.
The 5x3 slot sees Santa set off on a walk through the snowy lanes, visiting ‘gift houses’ as he lands on winnings spins. Players are treated to free games including expanding Santas, gifts from his sack, and sticky re-spins when they enter a gift house.
The grid’s symbols feature all the festive charm associated with Christmas, including colourful baubles, neatly-wrapped gifts and stockings, all accompanied by a Yuletide soundtrack bringing merriment to players on all devices.
“With anticipation building up to Christmas, we’re sure players will love Santa’s Village, where they’ll travel through different worlds of gifts and festive fun,” said Toni Karapetrov, head of corporate communications at Habanero.
“The vibrant and jovial title will see Santa present players with big wins when he appears on the reels, as he also takes another step towards the free-game packed gift houses. Christmas really has come early in Santa’s Village.”
Online casino operator Videoslots has begun its countdown to Christmas with a Christmas Calendar promotional campaign starting today.
In the run up to Christmas Day, Videoslots will offer players various rewards each day, which can be won by completing a certain number of spins on that day’s featured title.
The rewards will be kept hidden from the player until they have fulfilled the requirements, but include a mix of Free Spins, Weekend Boosters and Casino Race Multipliers. The campaign will run from today through to Christmas Day, which will be celebrated with Red Tiger Gaming’s Jingle Bells slot.
Other games featured in the Christmas Calendar include Play’n GO’s Hugo 2, Yggdrasil’s Jungle Books and Pragmatic Play’s Diamond Strike.
“We’re known for our impressive promotional campaigns at Videoslots, and in keeping with the festive spirit, this year’s Christmas Calendar will be giving out thousands of free spins and other rewards over the next 25 days,” said Alexander Stevendahl, chief executive of Videoslots.com. “Each day’s rewards will be linked to some of our players favourite slots, allowing them to continue their usual gaming habits but with bigger wins and rewards on offer.”
