This week has seen new game releases by PokerStars, Pragmatic Play, Kalamba Games, Blueprint Gaming, Evoplay Entertainment and iSoftBet, as well as integrations for Booming Games, Stakelogic and GiG Games.
The Stars Group's leading poker brand PokerStars has launched the latest instalment in its series of new cash game variants.
The 6+ game is a short deck hold’em format which sees all numbered cards lower than six removed from the deck and a new blind structure introduced, the Button Blind. Instead of small and big blinds, all players post an ante and only the player on the button posts a blind.
“6+ is an exciting poker variant that often produces big hands and a lot of action, so we’re excited to bring it to the tables”, said PokerStars director of poker product Chris Straghalis. “While the format has proven popular with high stakes players, the range of stakes available on PokerStars and similarities to hold’em mean that it should appeal to those who may want to try a new game but don’t want something too different. We’re looking forward to seeing what people think.”
Available in a six-handed format, the operator said that the narrower card range, combined with an action-oriented blind and ante structure, brings a shift in strategy that players will need to adapt to in order to play successfully.
A flush now also beats a full house. Given that there are only nine ranks of cards, players will flop a set 17 per cent of the time, making a full house much more achievable. Flushes, however, will be more difficult to come by as there are only nine cards in each suit. Aces can still be played high or low, but now the lowest straight possible is A-6-7-8-9.
Pragmatic Play’s Mustang Gold
Pragmatic Play has expanded its portfolio with the launch of its new western-themed video slot Mustang Gold.
The 3x5 reel, 25 payline slot is set in the Wild West and features traditional slot symbols, as well as cowboys, cowgirls and majestic horses that fill the reels, accompanied by golden winning symbols such as horseshoes.
The Wild symbol can act as a substitute in the reels and create winning combinations. Horseshoe symbols and Sheriff badges trigger big prizes when they hit the reels and when combined, the bonus feature is triggered which gives players the chance to win up to 1000x their original bet.
“We are thrilled to unveil our new exciting western slot, Mustang Gold,” said Pragmatic Play chief commercial officer Melissa Summerfield. “With an immersive, engaging setting and artfully detailed slot symbols, it is one of our most in-depth slot games yet.
“Mustang Gold gives yet another interactive bonus feature to our players, and we look forward to seeing it become a success for our operating partners.”

Blueprint Gaming is taking players into battle with its new Ancient Rome-themed slot game.
Rome: Rise of an Empire is a 5x3 reel slot which sees players take the role of a Roman Gladiator as they attempt to fight their way to greatness in front of a packed-out Colosseum.
Three or more Colosseum bonus symbols unearth one of the game’s five bonus rounds; Urn Riches, Uprising, Volcanic Cash, Empress’s Treasure and Big Money Bonus.
Players will be accompanied in the arena by tigers who roar into action and randomly award one of five-reel modifiers on any spin, including Sword Strike, Legions Glory, Spears Of Destiny, Symbolus Maximus or Bonus Boost.
“Players will need nerves of steel to handle the heat of the Colosseum and land big prizes in our latest release Rome: Rise of an Empire,” said Blueprint Gaming director of marketing and relationships Jo Purvis. “The battle-themed game is full of bonus rounds reel modifiers to keep our gladiators on their toes as they hunt for glory.
