Greentube director of group employee services Sandra Zeinlinger explains how the company has created a thriving work environment for its employees
You’ve been at Greentube for 13 years now. What have been the biggest changes you have seen over this time?
It’s been a remarkable journey! The major catalyst for change was the acquisition of Greentube by NOVOMATIC in 2010. Since then, we have witnessed rapid growth which has seen the number of colleagues grow from approximately 100 to 1,200 and our standing as a brand has reached new heights.
During that time, the industry has changed dramatically too and because of that dynamic nature, we have needed to remain agile, adapting to evolving business demands.
The pandemic brought significant developments in terms of how we work and caused the well-publicised opportunities and challenges that many businesses have had to work through.
The one thing that hasn’t changed however is the spirit that runs through and defines our team. The way people work together and support each other has only ever been a constant. Appreciation, trust, respect and fun are not just words at Greentube – we live these values every day.
How would you describe the company culture?
Our company culture is multifaceted and driven by several key tenets. We focus on a variety of ingredients to cultivate a thriving work environment.
Before a person even joins our team, we prioritise finding the right fit. We look for talented individuals who share our company values. It’s about more than just skills and experience and this alignment fuels engagement and commitment to our shared goals.
Open communication and investing in our people’s growth are crucial to the professional development of all our people. We ask for dedication and provide the tools to enable people to achieve that while ensuring work-life balance and celebrating successes.
We’re a company with clear goals for growth, we’re positive, forward-looking, collaborative and all this ultimately leads to our success.
What values does the company prioritise, and how are they reflected in the workplace?
Greentube prides itself on the delivery of safe and secure casino entertainment to players around the world. We provide solutions that go above and beyond, shaping the future of this ever-changing sector.
The values that we embody as a supplier are reflected in the working environment we foster across every department. If we’re expecting the best from people and asking that they are engaged and driven then we have to ensure that we’re doing everything we can to provide the support and atmosphere that best inspire those behaviours and attitudes.
Trust, respect and cooperation between all our colleagues are the foundation to promote hard and smart work, commitment and drive in everything we do.
We are a major international employer and bringing all the many moving parts together to operate efficiently requires the cooperation that we’ve nurtured.
This perhaps is most exemplified by our top five placing in the Great Place to Work scheme.
In its 2023 survey, 92 per cent of employees declared Greentube a great workplace. Satisfaction exceeded benchmarks among new hires, professional development, and work-life balance, with an 83 per cent trust index surpassing benchmarks by 2 per cent.
Can you share examples of initiatives or programmes the company has implemented to support its culture?
Greentube fosters its positive culture through various avenues. Leadership programmes support managers at all levels, while regular feedback mechanisms ensure continuous improvement.
Our comprehensive benefits package includes flexible work arrangements, health and wellbeing programmes, team-building activities, and our popular company events.
What opportunities do the company provide for employee development and career growth?
Retention is an important part of our success and we offer extensive opportunities for employee development and career advancement to ensure this.
Our training offering includes a mix of internal programmes, e-learning platforms and opportunities to attend conferences and industry events. Starting this year, we will have a structured approach when it comes to the personal development plans of our people by directly connecting them with their yearly performance goals.
Our leadership programmes particularly support our employees as they progress through their careers, providing a range of sessions to improve their skills, adapted to different management levels. This underlines our investment in our people and our commitment to their growth.
How does the company promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace?
A key strand of our corporate values includes ensuring everyone feels welcome, safe, respected, valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and skills at Greentube, regardless of their background or beliefs.
Practical Diversity and Unconscious Bias training is a permanent learning item for our teams, to raise awareness and further educate our people about this topic.
Ultimately, we believe that a culture of inclusion fosters innovation, enhances decision-making, and contributes to our overall organisational success.
What are some key HR initiatives or priorities for the upcoming year?
This year, we’re focussing on our HR Reporting and KPI tracking processes. We’re also advancing our HR digitalisation efforts, including exploring the potential of AI in HR.
We have introduced the concept of a Learning Partner which has resulted in creating unique development programmes, promoting an internal learning culture, and further strengthening partnerships between HR and management.
All our initiatives and approaches reflect our dedication to the satisfaction and retention of our employees, innovation, and efficiency.
We’re looking forward to another year of positive growth, both in the products and services we provide and the values and spirit we foster as a team.
