The Australian Senate has passed a motion for a joint select committee to conduct an inquiry into the impact of advertising and promotion of gambling on sport, following last week’s report by the Australian Crime Commission which uncovered widespread doping as well as the involvement of organised crime and allegations of match-fixing across sports.
The Senate voted in favour of a motion from Greens Senator Dr Richard Di Natale to conduct the inquiry.
