Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has fined Kindred Group’s Unibet brand for allowing self-excluded players to continue to gamble.

The KSA was prompted to investigate the operator in mid-2023 by a player who had registered on the site in November 2022, despite being on the Cruks self-exclusion list.

The KSA investigated 3,020 player registrations on the site from 22 November 2022 to 30 January 2023, finding that the operator had let 15 self-excluded players sign up and play during that time.

It is a legal requirement in the Netherlands that licensed operators check whether a player is registered on the Cruks system when they are registering to play.

Based on the seriousness of the offence, the KSA has imposed a fine of €400,000 on Kindred Group, which the company said it will not appeal.
