The National Lottery of Luxembourg has notified players of a data breach at its sports betting provider.

The cybersecurity incident affected the IT systems of the National Lottery’s sports betting provider and resulted in unauthorised access to player data, including names, addresses and bank details of the lottery’s online sports betting customers.

The Luxembourg National Lottery said in a statement that the breach did not involve any credit card information or passwords and was limited to the loteriesport.lu sports betting site, with online gaming operations unaffected.

The data breach has been notified the National Data Protection Commission.

“The National Lottery has ensured that urgent corrective measures are being implemented,” the statement added. “We are working closely with the affected subcontractor to ensure that the necessary protection, remediation and mitigation measures are put in place.”

The Luxembourg National Lottery is the sole authorised sports betting operator in the country.
