Austrian government to restrict poker to land-based casinos by 2020

The Austrian government has begun plans to restrict poker to licensed land-based casino operators by 2020, a move which will effectively put existing cardrooms in the country out of business.

The new legislation is designed to strengthen consumer and social protection measures, as well as tackle illegal gambling and ensure a fairer gambling market in the country.
