The Australian Wagering Council (AWC), the industry body representing the interests of the Australian sports betting market, has called on the Australian state of New South Wales to freeze the implementation of its proposed minimum bet rule on all betting service providers.

Racing NSW, the regulating body for thoroughbred racing in the Australian state, completed a consultation process this week in respect of a minimum bet limit requirement for bets places on races with licensed operators.

It claims that it will “ensure a fairer deal” for customers, and follows a number of complaints from customers about operators refusing to take their bets, particularly where those customers have been successful.
