Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD) has accused Hesse Interior Minister Peter Beuth of pandering to illegal gambling operators by authorising betting companies to operate in the state.
Günter Rudolph, secretary of the SPD parliamentary group in the Hesse Parliament, said that Christian Democratic Unionist (CDU) politician Beuth had “capitulated” to unlicensed operators following a number of successful legal challenges against Germany’s State Treaty on Gambling.
