IGT agrees $0.5m SEC fine to settle whistleblower dispute

Gaming supplier International Game Technology (IGT) has agreed to pay a $500,000 penalty to settle a whistleblower claim with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Relating to the legacy IGT business (prior to its acquisition by GTECH), the company was found to have fired an employee with several years of positive performance reviews because he reported to senior management and the SEC that the company's financial statements might be distorted.
