New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s fight against daily fantasy sports (DFS) has been backed by the Supreme Court after he was awarded an injunction to block FanDuel and DraftKings from operating in the state, only for the operators to secure an emergency stay of the ban until January at the earliest as they prepare appeals.

Justice Manuel Mendez explained his decision by highlighting potential dangers to players, explaining that the need to protect the public “outweighs any potential loss of business.”
