The discovery of major flaws within 888 Holdings' processes for handling valuable customers and social responsibility controls has seen the operator hit with a £7.8m penalty by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).

The investigation, launched in May this year, has seen major issues in the operator's self-exclusion measures flagged, while a failure to spot signs of problem gambling behaviour led to a player resorting to criminal activity to fund their addiction.
