Court upholds illegal advertising fine for Ladbrokes in Australia

An appeal by London-listed bookmaker Ladbrokes against a fine for illegal advertising in Australia has been dismissed by the New South Wales District Court.

The operator was fined $35,000 and ordered to pay $50,000 in legal costs earlier this year for publishing advertising that offered NSW residents inducements to gamble.

Ladbrokes’ appeal was dismissed Tuesday (Dec. 5), with Judge Martin Blackmore confirming the decision of the Local Court to convict and fine the bookmaker.
