Swedish gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen has issued a SEK8m penalty to Svenska Spel’s land-based casino business Casino Cosmopol for violating anti-money laundering rules.
Casino Cosmopol, which operates venues in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Sundsvall and Malmö, was found to be failing in its efforts to counter money laundering in all areas investigated by the regulator.
Lotteriinspektionen said that the deficiencies were “serious and in many cases systematic”, with a high risk that casinos had been used for money laundering.
