A number of online gamblers in South Africa have had their winnings confiscated and forfeited to the state in an "unprecedented" move against illegal online gaming in the country.

The court action has seen approximately ZAR1.25m (€87,400) in online gaming winnings seized by the state and follows earlier warnings of an impending crackdown by Trade and Industry minister Dr. Rob Davies.
