Sweden opens consultation into new gambling advertising rules

The Swedish government is proposing to amend rules governing gambling advertising to bring them in line with alcohol products.

The proposed changes to advertising regulations would introduce a requirement for “special moderation”, an undefined term currently applicable to alcohol and tobacco advertising, based on the assumption that people with gambling addiction often have poorer general and mental health, economic problems and risky levels of alcohol, tobacco and drug use.
