Sweden's state-controlled gaming operator Svenska Spel has received government approval to increase its payouts on fixed-odds sports bets in order to better compete against private operators.
Svenska Spel's payout ratio on sports betting has historically been set at 80 per cent compared to well over 90 per cent for most private operators, resulting in players seeking out better odds with overseas operators.
