The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a warning to ReadyBet for breaching self-exclusion rules.

An ACMA investigation found that ReadyBet sent 273 texts and push notifications from its mobile app to people who had registered with BetStop, the national self-exclusion register.

The operator also failed to promote the self-exclusion register in 2,342 push notifications, despite it being mandatory to promote BetStop in all electronic marketing messages.

The breaches occurred between 23 August 2023 and 21 December 2023 and contravened subsection 61JP(5), subsection 61LA(2) and subsection 61LA(4) of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

As part of the warning, the ACMA requires ReadyBet to carry out remedial actions, including an independent review of its marketing systems.
