Gaming supplier International Game Technology (IGT) has agreed a deal to supply Spielbanken Niedersachsen, the German casino operator in the state of Lower Saxony, with a new Wide Area Progressive (WAP) Jackpot throughout its estate.

The deal will see IGT supply its Mermaid’s Spell WAP on its OXYGEN gaming cabinets, rolling out 56 machines across 10 Spielbanken properties across the German state.

“We are very proud to be chosen once again by Spielbanken Niedersachsen to supply their next WAP offering,” IGT’s vice president of EMEA and Latin America Marcel Heutmekers commented.

“This acknowledges our continuous efforts to work in partnership with our customers to develop the best product for their specific needs.”

Over the coming months IGT will work with the operator to provide a solution tailor-made for its operations and players, as well as tweaking the game’s graphics to ensure they are in-keeping with Spielbanken Niedersachsen’s corporate identity.

IGT is also developing a new mathematic formula to fit its partner’s requirements, taking into account the number of machines, locations, desired hit rate and jackpot amounts.

“We know from past experiences that we have chosen the right supplier for our WAP,” Spielbanken Niedersachsen’s general slot gaming manager Hartmut Meier said. “This is the third WAP we are realizing together, and the cooperation has always been very successful.”

“The game concept is great, and we are convinced that our players will love it.”

The first WAP was installed in Niedersachsen by IGT in 1997, before being renewed five years later.

Shares in International Game Technology plc (Co.Data) (NYSE:IGT) closed down 1.47 per cent at $18.12 per share in New York yesterday.
