Why the British gaming industry is bracing itself for an advertising crackdown.

As 2016 drew to a close so too did yet another review of gambling advertising in the UK, and with it comes the very real threat of a blanket ban on all pre-9pm advertising on TV and social media. There is no doubt that this review, combined with the wider investigation into fixed-odds betting terminals, is significant. Influential media analyst Claire Enders, founder of Enders Analysis, has warned media owners to brace themselves for the worst, as talk of a ban appears to be coming from ‘the highest levels’ in government.
