The New York State Gaming Commission has appointed the final two board members to the New York Gaming Facility Location Board (NYGFLB).

Former SVP for community development and DEI at US News & World Report, Marion Phillips III, and real estate industry veteran Greg Reimers, were selected for the board during a vote held on 27 January.

The facility location board will select from 11 bidders and award three downstate land-based casino licences by the end of this year.

Phillips and Reimers bring the total number of board members to five. NYU professor Vicki Been chairs the board, which also includes former Hofstra University president Stuart Rabinowitz and retired lawyer Carlos Naudon.

“We are proud to appoint these consummate professionals to the Gaming Facility Location Board,” said Gaming Commission chair Brian O’Dwyer.

“The board’s important work of selecting up to three casino proposals will have a lasting impact on our state, and Mr Phillips and Mr Reimers have the expertise and experience to conduct thorough evaluations of the projects.”
