The Swedish government has nominated Eva-Lotta Sjöstedt as chairwoman of the state-owned gaming operator Svenska Spel.

Sjöstedt currently serves on the board of directors of several business, including Alliance Pharmaceuticals in the United Kingdom and Elisa Oy in Finland, having served for more than 10 years in a variety of roles at Ikea.

Sjöstedt has been nominated to replace Erik Strand as chair of the board, with Anna Gagner-Geeber and Johan Wilsby also nominated as new board members.

Gagner-Geeber is currently the office counsel for the Swedish government’s Department of Finance, while Wilsby is the chief finance officer at Swedish cash handling company Loomis.

Wilsby was previously a board member at Relax Gaming between October 2021 and August 2023, and was chief financial officer at Kindred Group between October 2020 and August 2023.

In addition to the three new members, current board members Eivor Andersson, Stefan Berg, Gunilla Herlitz, Nyamko Sabuni and Anne Arneby have been nominated for re-election.

The nominations will be formally considered at Svenska Spel’s annual general meeting on 24 April 2025.
