New appointments establish dedicated leadership across British pool betting operator’s B2C and B2B activities
The UK Tote Group has strengthened its executive leadership team with the appointment of Eugene Delaney as chief commercial officer of B2B, and the promotion of Paddy Desmond to chief operating officer.
The company said the appointments reflect the continued growth of its UK and international operations and establish dedicated executive leadership across its B2C and B2B activities.
Delaney joins the Tote’s executive team to lead its B2B operations across the company’s International and UK business pillars.
He brings more than 20 years’ senior commercial and operational leadership experience from the sport, media, horse racing and B2B betting and data sectors, having held leadership positions at PA Media Group, Spotlight Sports Group, Racing Post and Paddy Power.
In his new role, he will lead the continued growth of the Tote’s partnerships with racecourses, operators and international pool partners.
“The Tote’s B2B potential, across international pools and the UK, is significant and there is a clear opportunity to build on what has already been achieved over the last eight years,” said Delaney. “I’m looking forward to working with Alex, Paddy and the wider team to deepen our partnerships, sharpen how we operate and continue building long-term value for our racecourse, operator and international partners.”
Meanwhile, Desmond has been promoted from chief revenue officer to chief operating officer, assuming operational leadership for the UK Tote Group business with responsibility spanning product, customer experience, marketing and revenue.
He has extensive experience in betting, gaming and horse racing, having previously held senior commercial positions at Paddy Power and Flutter Entertainment, alongside roles at the British Horseracing Authority.
“This is an exciting time to be leading the Tote’s consumer business,” said Desmond. “We have a distinctive product, a loyal customer base and real momentum. My focus will be on continuing to improve the experience we offer customers while growing the business responsibly and sustainably.”
Commenting on the appointments, UK Tote Group chief executive Alex Frost said: “These changes to our senior team ensure we have dedicated leadership across both sides of our business. Paddy has an outstanding track record in our consumer business and a deep understanding of racing, and his expanded role reflects the confidence we have in him to lead our growth.
“Eugene brings outstanding B2B and data expertise that matches the ambition we have for our partnerships and pool businesses. Together they strengthen our leadership team and position us well for the next stage of the Tote’s growth.”
