Marina Bay Sands in Singapore has revealed a security incident involving unauthorised access to its loyalty programme.

The Las Vegas Sands-owned resort said Tuesday that the data of approximately 665,000 non-casino rewards programme members was stolen on 19 and 20 October 2023 by an unauthorised third party.

Marina Bay Sands does not currently have any evidence that the data has been misused.

“After learning of the issue, we quickly launched an investigation, have been working with a leading external cybersecurity firm, and have taken action to further strengthen our systems and protect data,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday (7 Nov.).

“We will be reaching out to Sands LifeStyle loyalty programme members and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident. We have reported it to the relevant authorities in Singapore and other countries where applicable and are working with them in their inquiries into the issue.”

The resort’s casino rewards programme, Sands Rewards Club, is not believed to have been affected.

Data that was accessed in the incident includes name, email, telephone number, country of residence, and membership number and tier.

Shares in Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE:LVS) closed 1.13 per cent higher at $49.19 per share in New York Monday.
