SBTech working to resume service following suspected cyberattack

31st March 2020 10:22 am GMT

Technology supplier SBTech is investigating the cause of an outage that has impacted all its clients’ online betting and gaming services.

The Oregon Lottery was the first to reveal the service disruption Monday when it reassured customers that their account information and funds are secure.

The lottery said that SBTech took its systems offline as a precautionary measure in response to a cyberattack, making the Scoreboard sports betting app unavailable over the weekend and into Tuesday.

“While you are currently unable to place bets or access your account, SBTech assures us that your account information and funds are secure. When Scoreboard comes back online you will not need to reregister, all your account settings will be intact, and you can resume wagering and/or access your account balances as usual,” said the Oregon Lottery in a notice to customers.

It added that it continues to monitor SBTech’s progress to bring systems back online and will reopen Scoreboard when it is confident that players can safely and securely access the platform.

SBTech was unable to provide comment due to its ongoing investigation.

Other clients on the SBTech platform include the likes of Churchill Downs, Golden Nugget, Mansion, Bethard and Netbet.

SBTech is currently in the final stages of its acquisition by DraftKings, which is expected to complete in the second quarter of this year.
