Spanish High Court annuls €25m fine imposed on unlicensed lottery

Spain’s National High Court has annulled a €25m fine handed out to Organización Impulsora de Discapacitados (OID) for operating an unlicensed lottery, after the charitable lottery organisation successfully argued that the sum was disproportionately high.

The court, presided by President José Luis López-Múñiz Goñi, argued that the €25m fine would have severe consequences on the OID, an organisation that maintains a network of more than 4,000 disabled people who serve as lottery agents across Spain.
