Genting-owned mobile sports betting operator Resorts World Bet will cease operations in New York State at the end of this month.
The operator has confirmed that wagers and deposits will continue to be accepted until Monday June 16, with all withdrawals to be made by players by Sunday June 22.
Operated by Resorts World New York City, Resorts World Bet is scheduled for official closure on Monday June 30, having been one of the nine mobile sports betting operators to launch in New York in January 2022.
In May, the state’s mobile sports betting market generated total wagers of $2.21 billion, of which Resorts World Bet contributed just $9.1 million – the lowest by any operator. Last year, the operator generated wagers of $89.6 million, out of the overall market’s total $23.94 billion.
Resorts World Bet’s licence in New York could now be up for grabs, and would be the third change since the market opened.
Wynn Resorts shut down its WynnBET operations last year, with its license taken over by PENN Entertainment’s ESPN BET, which went live in September 2024.
PointsBet’s license was also transferred to Fanatics Betting and Gaming in June 2023, with Fanatics launching in the state in February 2024.
Shares in Resorts World New York City owner Genting Malaysia Bhd (KLSE:GENM) closed 1.50 per cent higher at RM2.03 per share in Kuala Lumpur earlier Tuesday.
