GTECH appoints new head of Latin America & Caribbean operations

GTECH S.p.A has promoted Christopher Caldwell to the role of senior vice president of Latin America and the Caribbean, replacing Erik Dyson who left the role last month.

Dyson had taken on the role last April but left just over a year later to join non-profit organisation All Hands Volunteers as executive director.

He is replaced by Christopher Caldwell, who most recently served as the company’s vice president of business development, where he was responsible for leading the pursuit, implementation, and operation of new gaming business opportunities in key strategic markets throughout the world.

In his new role, Caldwell will be responsible for leading the company’s operations and pursuing new business opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean, to offer products across GTECH’s entire portfolio, including lottery, gaming machines and systems, sports betting, and interactive.

He will also oversee and ensure the successful execution of GTECH’s various private operator contracts including those in Colombia, Costa Rica, and the Antilles Lotteries (lotteries located in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Maarten, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Dominican Republic).

In addition, Caldwell will lead operations that offer a diverse portfolio of products and services such as bill payments, cellular phone top-ups, money transfers, and government payments in the region.

He will report directly to GTECH Americas’ president and CEO Jaymin B Patel.

“Chris will play an important role in leading GTECH’s business strategies in the Latin America and Caribbean region,” said Patel. “His expertise in business development, finance, and knowledge of foreign affairs give him the breadth of experience needed to take on the additional challenges and responsibilities of this new position.”

Caldwell has held several roles at GTECH since joining the company in 1995, including leadership positions with the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis group, director of finance for GTECH’s Mexico operations in Mexico City, and regional finance director for the Western Region of the US.
