Online gaming software provider BetTech Gaming has secured a national manufacturers licence in South Africa which will allow it to offer its solutions to online and retail operators across the country, while the company has bolstered its team with the appointment of a new head of trading.

BetTech was previously only allowed to provide its services to operators licensed in the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, such as Kruger Racing and Bet.co.za.

The new licence gives the business scope to partner with online and retail operators based in all the other provinces across South Africa.

“2013 has already been a landmark year for BetTech Gaming,” the company’s co-founder and international CEO Mark Bosman said. “Now we are really taking things to the next level.”

The company also announced that it has expanded its team with the appointment of former Sportingbet horse racing trading supervisor Mike Shea, who becomes BetTech’s head of trading.

“The national manufacturers licence opens many doors domestically for brands looking to launch or outsource a sportsbook, while the appointment of Mike, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and skills, underlines our commitment to quality,” Bosman added.

Shea, who previously held trading roles with Hollywood Sports Book and World Betting Exchange before joining Sportingbet in August 2010, will work predominantly on the company’s BetTech Sports product as well as developing and overseeing trading strategies for clients of the recently-released Fully Managed Solution (FMS).

The turnkey solution incorporates the BetTech Sports module, a full suite of betting and gaming modules including a Betradar sports feed covering pre-match, live and virtual betting as well as online casino, poker and bingo products.

“I come from a sporting family and with my father being a jockey I’ve got horse racing in the blood,” Shea said.” My career in betting and gaming has taken me from South Africa to the UK and the Channel Islands. Now I am very excited to be back home and part of the BetTech team that is revolutionising the industry.”
